Giant wooden bear from Sveg (8 photos)

This massive, and one might even say Trojan bear, was invented and created to become a new tourist symbol for a small Swedish town.

A giant wooden bear rises above the center of the tiny Swedish town of Sveg, whose population does not exceed 2.5 thousand people, and the area is less than three square kilometers. Of course, the comparison with the Trojan horse is figurative, because it was not created to let enemies into the city, like the Trojan horse, but to attract more tourists.

Created between 2003 and 2005, the huge abstract animal still retains its natural appearance thanks to the wood it is made of. It was created by a local corporation as an attraction to attract tourists and give the city a special aura. The giant animal is built from thin sheets of wood stacked on top of each other, making the structure a special design element that can be seen by anyone passing by. Initially planned to be about 9 meters high, but in the end the bear was 13 meters tall.

Given the simple design and construction, the bear doesn't really look like an anatomically correct animal, but rather an abstract image of a bear. Although this makes it cuter. The inside of the bear is hollow, with three internal levels.

He may not be the scariest bear in the world, but the city of Sveg has been transformed thanks to him and has acquired an unusual giant mascot.
