A man was arrested in China for selling a seat on the subway (5 photos)
He sold his place during the morning rush for 5 yuan. It turns out that speculators are dealt with harshly in China! However, people reacted rather negatively to such an arrest.
As the saying goes, "well, what can you buy for 5 yuan"
Why Zhou was arrested
A man surnamed Zhou, who lives and works in the Lingang New Area, posted on social media on December 19 that he could offer his seat on Shanghai Metro Line 16 during the morning and evening rush hours.
Line 16 is crowded with working commuters in the early hours of every day as it connects the suburban area of Lingang with the city center.
The Chinese subway during rush hour is a real torture, worse than the Moscow one
Zhou said that he boards the train at the final station, which guarantees him a seat. He said that he starts his trip at 7:30 in the morning and gets off the train at Huinan Station or Xinchang Station near his office. And now anyone can BUY a seat after him.
The cost of his seat was 5 yuan (about the same as the cost of the trip itself). He wrote that passengers interested in his services can contact him before he gets off the train. A very enterprising and incredibly greedy man. On the other hand, you can save on travel every day, it will add up to 200 yuan per month.
And he was arrested and placed under administrative arrest.
Is this speculation or his right?
During the evening rush hour, everyone is tired and the demand for a free seat is higher
The man said that he had already provided a service to the same passenger twice. The other two passengers had paid in advance, but unfortunately, Zhou could not find a free seat even at the initial station.
He said that the demand for a seat during evening rush hours is higher than in the morning.
The Shanghai Metro operator said that he is against this!
"Seats on the subway are open to all passengers, and the allocation of seats should be on a first-come, first-served basis. And not serve as a means of making additional profits."
But in fact, there is NO law in China that prohibits this, meaning Zhou was in a gray area. He was detained simply for allegedly disturbing the peace, which is highly doubtful.
More likely, he was arrested to prevent others from doing the same and to prevent the emergence of a meter racket.
Even at the starting station there may not be enough space in the morning
But on the Chinese Internet his arrest "caused a stir". Although no one likes that someone can sell a free seat on the subway in advance, but directly arresting for petty entrepreneurship is too much.
But, apparently, the Chinese authorities needed a scandal so that such young entrepreneurs would not proliferate throughout the country. And if you are fat, then you can immediately take up two seats!
Which one of them is selling their seat to this girl now!?
I don't think it's unfair at all, he's not riding on purpose. Sooner or later he would have gotten out and vacated the seat to get to work. So he doesn't have to buy it and his seat will be free.
