They bother neighbors: rare retro cars rust for years right on the street (7 photos)
Vintage cars have been sitting outside for years. Their owner has been evicted, but he doesn't want to give up his parking spots for his neighbors.
A London collector has amassed 18 vintage cars and motorcycles. He stores them outside, which has caused discontent among his neighbors.
The Briton started collecting cars and motorcycles over 20 years ago. Since he rented an apartment and did not have his own warehouse or even a garage, he decided to park them on his and neighboring streets.
Over the years, the collection was replenished with new items. The car enthusiast bought a vintage Bentley T1, Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, Daimler DS420, Jaguar XJ, BMW 5 Series and 6 Series. In addition, there are Honda and Kawasaki motorcycles on the street.
Some of the cars are collectible rarities, but their condition leaves much to be desired. Over the years in the open air, they have become covered in rust, and their paint has cracked.
The collector's neighbors did not like this kind of car park. The cars take up parking spaces and do not allow fire trucks or ambulances to pass. One of the residents of the street complained: "It feels like we live in a landfill."
A few years ago, the municipality confiscated some of the cars, but the collector brought other cars to replace them. Eventually, the neighbors complained to the police and the Briton was evicted, but the cars remained in place. From time to time, the owner comes and wipes them down, but he does not plan to take them back.
