How India fights crazy traffic (5 photos)

Have you tried crossing the road on a zebra crossing in India? In my opinion, it's even more dangerous there than for an inexperienced newbie in Vietnam. It seems that Indians don't even mind losing a motorcycle!

And no signs or drawings with lines on the asphalt fundamentally solve the problem that everyone drives as they please. And of all the signs that no one in India cares about, the most "unnecessary" for drivers are speed signs and pedestrian crossings. They are not even considered signs.

And then the road administration chose a way to improve the situation that had already been tried in some other parts of the world. This is a 3D zebra crossing for pedestrians, which looks very three-dimensional and realistic from afar.

This is beautiful, but not believable

Suddenly, it turned out to be quite successful in India. Perhaps it is a matter of the mentality and special visual gullibility of Indians, but the level of order on the streets from such a 3D crossing was the highest here.

What will make an Indian slow down

The cow is in place, everything is fine

In addition to the cow sleeping on the road, of course. 3D zebra crossings also help to make drivers slow down in areas where it is required. Because speed signs are not particularly popular in India either, but the fear of crashing turns out to be real.

However, the effect of such a 3D solution is short-lived. The first to start breaking the rules again are the drivers of minibuses, who have learned that there is no obstacle on the road. Then locals and truck drivers.

The usefulness of such zebra crossings depends on the naivety of drivers. In Europe, it is only 5%

But new travelers still fall for the trick.

Perhaps, for every ten painted zebra crossings, there should be one real speed bump, painted in the same style, so that drivers, out of fear, slow down in front of each drawing from afar.

And still, what does not work in one country sometimes finds greater success in another, quite curiously.

It really feels like jumping on blocks
