A dog with a crooked muzzle is compared to a Picasso masterpiece (7 photos)
An adorable puppy named Brody has become an internet star due to his unusual appearance.
Amanda Richter, a 34-year-old photographer from British Columbia, Canada, was stunned when she came across a five-year-old stray dog at a rescue site.
The dog, a mix of German Shepherd, Mastiff, Pit Bull Terrier and Rottweiler, was injured as a puppy after being bitten by his mother, leaving him with a crooked face and partial blindness in one eye. But to Amanda Brody, he was simply "perfect," charming her with his bizarre appearance that could have been mistaken for a "Picasso masterpiece."
Amanda is thrilled with her pet: "He's such a fun little guy. He makes me laugh. Brody is a whirlwind of joy. He's a bundle of energy and carefree. I often get comments that he's just like the cartoon dog we used to draw when we were kids. He's not perfect, but he's still loved. It's not about the outside. He's got the biggest heart. He's perfect to me."
Amanda decided to make him a part of her life after seeing a post from a kennel in Alberta and didn't hesitate to take Brodie home. His jaw is partially fused, but that doesn't stop him.
Amanda added, "He doesn't even know he's different. He's full of energy, he's all about fun and games. He's full of life. And don't let his eccentricity fool you. He's also very smart."
Amanda started sharing photos of Brodie online @bestboybrodie, and one of her followers sent her a rescue dog who looked just like him. She said: "They're soulmates."
Three-year-old Raven, a husky-German shepherd mix, joined the family in February 2022 after being rescued from Fuzzy Texan Animal Rescue.
Amanda said: "At first, Brodie was terrified of Raven. Raven was from an abusive home. She was petrified when I got her. They've warmed up to each other over time. Now they're inseparable. They play together. It's like a brother and sister relationship."
A number of celebrities have also followed Brody's page, including Amanda Seyfried, Leona Lewis, and Donald Trump's daughter-in-law Lara Trump.
Amanda said, "I think it's hilarious."
She hopes that Brody's post will send a message and encourage others to rescue dogs who aren't perfect: "It's okay to be imperfect. I hope people will rescue dogs like that."
