The Mercedes-AMG G-Class with a 1063-horsepower engine and acceleration to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds has been unveiled. Mercedes-Benz itself has nothing to do with the development of this version: the SUV was designed by the HOF studio, formerly known as Hofele. Only 11 units of the super-powerful Formula 1-style SUVs will be produced.
The new model with its own name Sir Class is dedicated to a historic event — the end of Lewis Hamilton's career as part of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula team.
In the official statement, HOF avoids mentioning Lewis Hamilton's name, calling him a modern knight who redefined motorsports and one of the most titled champions. From this series of hints, it is obvious that we are talking about the ex-pilot of Mercedes-AMG Petronas.
The four-liter V8 was equipped with a different supercharging system, an original control unit and a custom exhaust pipe, the pipes of which are located on the sides. The engine develops 1063 horsepower and 1300 Nm, the maximum speed of the SUV is 300 km/ h.
The Gelik received a set of new carbon fiber body parts and 23-inch wheels, also finished with carbon fiber. Powerful brakes with carbon-ceramic discs were installed, the ground clearance was reduced by 30 millimeters. The Sir Class body was painted with a gradient from silver to black, with a set of accents in a special Tiffany Green shade. This combination should refer to the standard design of the Silver Arrows formula cars.
The most notable change in the interior is the optional carbon steering wheel instead of the steering wheel, made in the style of the Mercedes-AMG One. In addition, the car is equipped with special sports seats. Their headrests have the embroidery "1063", and on the ceiling is the silhouette of the Yas Marina race track, where Hamilton's last Grand Prix with Mercedes took place. The interior is finished in the same color scheme as the body.
HOF estimated the Sir Class at at least 690 thousand dollars.
Seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton joined Mercedes-AMG Petronas back in 2013. The team calculated that during this time the athlete drove 245 races for the Silver Arrows, winning 84 of them, and the total number of Hamilton's "combat" kilometers exceeded 100 thousand. Starting next season, the famous athlete will compete for Ferrari.
