The entire staff at the Dawn Avatar Robot cafe in Tokyo are robots, remotely controlled by people with disabilities. Although the employees cannot leave their homes, they communicate with visitors and remain part of society.

A French traveler who blogs under the nickname ksouchh visited the establishment and shared his impressions.

At Dawn Avatar Robot, he met a waitress who chatted with him in a friendly manner through a white robot with pink glowing eyes. An assistant brought a tray of drinks to his table.

The couple greeted each other, and then the guest asked, "Where are you now?" She replied, "I'm in Saitama, Japan. Do you know Saitama?"

The man then said he had heard the name, but didn't know where it was.

The woman explained, "It's near Tokyo, but I can't leave my house because I'm sick. That's why I work here."

"That's great," the traveler said, and the girl thanked him for his kindness.

He then filmed the robot slowly turning around and driving away from the table.

The video became very popular, gaining 4.5 million views.

"Working from home as a waitress? Japan has reached a new level," wrote one commenter.

A second commenter agreed: "You see, we need things like this instead of artificial intelligence."

Ten robots, including a barista and a bartender, help locals and tourists have a good time. And people are doing the cooking.

A cafe visitor named Maz said: "All the robots can talk. Each one is equipped with a camera, microphone and speaker, so the operators can talk to customers as if they were standing right in front of them. The robots can perform simple actions like nodding their heads or raising their hands, thanks to eye-tracking technology. I talked to many of them. The robot met me at the entrance and explained how the cafe works, then I talked to the waiter and mini-assistants at the bar."

"Because I know Japanese, I was able to learn about the lives of many of the employees. It was interesting to hear their stories. They are grateful for a job that allows them to feel less isolated and gives them social interaction. They are all very nice and willing to communicate with guests in English."

"Almost all the robots have a tablet, so you can see a photo of the worker and see where in the world they are logging in from," Maz explained.

The girl also noted the fast service, adding that her green tea and juice were brought within a few minutes.
