A cute family sculpture composition "Make way for the ducklings!" glorifying fairy tales and family (9 photos)
Mrs. Mallard and her brood are one of the most popular spots at the Boston Public Garden.
The nine members of the friendly feathered family - a mother and her eight babies - have lived at the Boston Public Garden for 30 years. They are the bronze sculptures of the Mallard family from the 1941 children's book Make Way for Ducklings, and they have become a favorite at the park since they were installed in 1987.
In the book, Mr. and Mrs. Mallard come to Boston looking for a home and are delighted by the beautiful Community Garden. But when they encounter people walking fast and riding bicycles, they decide it's too dangerous for their children. After the ducklings are born, Mrs. Mallard teaches them to swim, and the family returns to a small island on a lake.

The sculptures were designed by Nancy Schoen. The ducklings are installed here "as a tribute to Robert McCloskey, whose story of Make Way For Ducklings brought the Boston Public Garden to children around the world," according to a plaque at the site.
The author created the illustrations himself
The entire brood - Jack, Cake, Lack, Mack, Nack, Wack, Pack and Quack - took up more than 10 meters of the park's cracked Boston cobblestones. The family is quite fashionable and dresses (with the help of park visitors, of course) in seasonal suits or sports jerseys of local teams.
