Two couples in Green Park. London, 1955.
Children trying on Adolf Hitler's mask. London, 1938.
Back then, Hitler was already the man of the year, he was published on the front page of Time magazine, and before 1939, fascist and Nazi ideas did not have such a negative connotation as they do now, many countries set Italy and Germany as an example.
In 2 years, the German air force will begin bombing London.

If the gas mask was faulty, there was a risk of inhaling toxic gases.

An extra child in an English family..., what a pity, such a cute chubby one.
Boys in England wear shorts even in the cold, and girls rarely wear tights with dresses. Even in the royal family. This is such a peculiar system of hardening children. But then you can easily endure the lack of heat at home, for which you get unimaginable bills if you turn on the heating. And if you catch a cold, it will go away on its own, it strengthens the immune system.
Some people sell bear cubs to the zoo. London, 1962.
The cloven-hoofed "lawn mowers" walk along Piccadilly from Hyde Park to Green Park. London, 1931.
In the 1920s and 1930s, sheep were regularly brought into London's parks to reduce the cost of mowing grass. The cattle were well fed, the lawn was mown and fertilized, and the owner and authorities were happy.
Baron Walter Rothschild riding a giant tortoise, Tring Park. UK, 1890s.
Interesting fact: A tortoise's shell can withstand 200 times its own weight.

Windmill Theatre. London. UK. 1940.
At the start of the war, it was assumed that bombing cities with poison gas was inevitable. So cabaret performers wore gas masks in case of a gas attack (or simply posed for the camera).
