Little weaknesses do not lead to anything good.
Three Italian clans and the South American mafia have for many years very productively used the services of 58-year-old Gustavo Nocella, nicknamed Ermes. The man was the main link and extremely successful in the world of drug trafficking. Legends were composed about him, it was believed that he was the leader of the Rinaldi-Formicola, Amato-Pagano and De Micco clans. He is suspected of coordinating and facilitating the smuggling of cocaine from Colombia to the Netherlands, from where the shipments were distributed throughout Europe.
William Salamanca, director of the National Police, said: "In the world of drug trafficking, his logistics network was highly respected, it was made up of specialized personnel who carried out specific tasks under his strict direction."
At first, Ermes lived in Naples, but too much police attention made him nervous, then he moved to Colombia, where it was calmer. Everything went perfectly, in order not to be caught, Gustavo moved to a new apartment every three months, only the most trusted people knew where he was living at the moment. He was completely secretive, well, that's understandable. But Gustavo loved billiards so much, he couldn't live without it. A respectable person with good money should have his own billiard table.
But, as we all remember, the "main mafioso" changed apartments every three months, so he had to drag this ill-fated billiard table with him. That's what attracted the attention of the police. For 6 months, the police closely monitored the movement of the billiard table, and that's how they found Gustavo himself in his new apartment, located in the elite El Poblado area of Medellin, Colombia.
The arrest was the result of a joint investigation, known as Operation Minerva, carried out by the Colombian National Police, Italian police, UK authorities and Europol.
