The brand will focus on producing iconic models that have formed a stable circle of fans. As part of a European tour dedicated to the launch of the electric Explorer, Ford CEO Jim Farley gave an interview to Car Magazine, where he spoke about the company's strategy for the future.

"We're getting out of the boring car business and into the iconic car business," he said. According to Farley, despite the fact that the popular Mondeo, Focus and Fiesta were loved by many customers far beyond the States, they never justified their investment. Therefore, Ford is going to exit the mass segment to move into more expensive sectors of the market with "carefully selected" cars.

In fact, the process is already underway. Under Farley, the Blue Oval, in addition to its core product — the F-150, focused on the development of the Mustang, Raptor and Bronco, which led to the extinction of the brand's sedans both at home and in foreign branches. At the same time, the company spends millions of dollars on motorsports, will become an engine supplier for Formula 1 and returned to the 24-hour race at Le Mans.

Should we now assume that simple and affordable passenger cars are a thing of the past? After all, Ford started with such unpretentious cars as the "Tin Lizzie", and they formed the backbone of the production line for about a century, until the dominance finally passed to pickups and SUVs. Time will tell.
