There are over 17,500 species of butterflies in the world. Insect breeder and photographer Diana Murguta delights her followers on social media by showing the rarest and most beautiful butterflies on the planet!
Diana's social media is full of bright photos and videos of butterflies. From dark velvet or almost fluorescent colors to almost completely transparent textures, they are all mesmerizing in their own way.
The butterflies seem to enjoy Diana's company, as she is always very gentle and careful with these fascinating creatures.
1. Ornithoptera - Birdwing
This genus contains two of the largest butterfly species in the world - the Queen Alexandra's Birdwing and the Goliath Birdwing. Ornithoptera butterflies are truly beloved by insect collectors because they are rare, large, and stunningly beautiful, perhaps the most beautiful butterflies in the world. They are found in South Asia and Australasia.
2. Pachliopta Kotzebuea — Kotzebue's Swallowtail
The upper side of this butterfly's wings is a contrasting black, while the underside is covered with red spots. This mesmerizing beauty can be found in the Philippines.

The emerald swallowtail, also known as the striped peafowl or emerald peafowl, is found in the virgin forests of Southeast Asia. This species gets its name from the striking emerald-green stripe that runs across each of its dark greenish-black wings.

10. Morpho menelaus - Morpho Menelaus
This is one of the largest butterflies in the world, with a wingspan of 12 to 20 centimeters. When it flies, its wings flash in contrasting bright blue and dull brown colors, giving the appearance of appearing and disappearing. It is found in the tropical forests of Brazil, Guyana, Colombia, Ecuador, and Venezuela.
