Transporting a helicopter by air ended in complete failure
The helicopter relocation operation, organized on August 31 near the Himalayan village of Kedarnath (Rudraprayag district, Uttarakhand state, India), fortunately ended without casualties.
An eyewitness to the risky undertaking captured how the pilot of the helicopter, taking another helicopter in tow, was forced to drop the load, which, upon hitting the ground, turned into a pile of twisted scrap metal.
Helicopters are almost the only means of transportation for emergency services in the mountainous region. These machines are often used to transport pilgrims and essential supplies to the remote Kedarnath temple, which can only be reached on foot or by air.
