Breathes fire and resembles a fighter jet: what the most unusual BMW motorcycle looks like (2 photos + 1 video)
The BMW R 1200 R motorcycle received an aluminum fairing in the style of the Spitfire fighter. The new exhaust of the bike can produce flames.
An unusual Spitfire motorcycle was created in Switzerland. It is stylized as the British fighter of the same name from World War II. This is reported by the Rideapart website.
The unusual project was brought to life in the Swiss studio VTR Customs. It is based on the 2017 BMW R 1200 R motorcycle.
The customizers were inspired by the famous Supermarine Spitfire fighter and created a special fairing for the bike made of polished aluminum, which imitates the fuselage of the British aircraft.
It is thanks to it that the motorcycle has a non-standard look. Its height is reduced to only 890 mm and even the suspension had to be shortened. In addition, instrument dials from a real Supermarine Spitfire were installed.
The power of the 1.17-liter BMW R 1200 R engine was increased to 170 hp, and the weight of the bike was reduced to 205 kg. The exhaust created by VTR Customs can emit fire, which is not surprising, because Spitfire is translated as "fire-breathing".
The Spitfire motorcycle exists in a single copy and is a frequent guest at bike shows. It can be sold to a new owner, but the cost is not small - $89,000.
