In Australia, two friends have been sending each other the same birthday card since 1963 (5 photos)
The Australian women jokingly admit that thanks to this exchange they have “saved a lot of money over the years.”
Jeanette Graham, now 84, and 80-year-old Lynley Lambert met in 1960 when the latter’s family moved into the house next door.
In March 1963, Lynley decided to send a birthday card to her friend. The text on the card suggests that it should be constantly divided between the sender and the recipient, so in December, when Lynley celebrated her birthday, it was Jeanette who sent it to her friend.
Even though the friends live just 30 minutes away from each other in Perth, they still send each other a card. They jokingly admit that by exchanging the same card, they "saved a lot of money over the years."
Jeanette first approached the Guinness Book of Records experts back in 1993. At that time, their postcard was far from a record, but now it has been broken and is being verified by experts.
The friends plan to continue sending each other the card, but they are increasingly worried that it will get lost in the mail.
