A seaplane crashed on Lake Alakol in the Zhetysu region of Kazakhstan on July 25. Eyewitnesses' mobile phone footage shows the aircraft losing altitude, then suddenly flipping over and falling into the water.

There were reportedly two people on board - a 44-year-old pilot and his 40-year-old girlfriend. The man was hospitalized with an open facial wound and a fracture of the right knee joint, the passenger - with a broken leg, closed craniocerebral injury and a bruised facial wound.

The causes of the crash are unknown, but it turned out that the aircraft was experimental, it was assembled by enthusiasts. This was reported by the head of the branch of "GIPROzem" of the Zhetysu region Zhetys Askar Zholdogutov, who is a member of this enthusiasts' circle.

"This is a small plane, it crashed yesterday. Now we are finding out what and how. The plane is experimental, it was being prepared for certification, the pilot flew it, tested it, there was little left to get the documents. Denis is an experienced pilot with many years of experience. I do not know what kind of woman it was, maybe his girlfriend. Now we are going, they are in the hospital, we will find out.

In Taldykorgan we have a group of enthusiasts, they are engaged in parachute sports, paragliding. We jump from the mountains in Tekeli, they have their own group, we have our own group. We are engaged in airplanes, hang gliders. This is our airplane, we prepared it, and we want to open our own club. There are not many of us, we want to organize a hang gliding club in Taldykorgan," Zholdogutov explained.
