Actually, this is how they came to America - part of the undersized livestock was sent overseas to work as laborers underground. Now, when work in the mines is automated, horses have returned to high society - to the glamorous group of decorative animals.

In the selection of ungulates, American breeders used miniature breeds, such as falabella and Shetland ponies. However, the idea of the American Miniature Horse was fundamentally different. The animals were not supposed to become another breed of chubby, short-legged ponies. The Americans sought to preserve the elegance, grace and proportions of an ordinary riding horse, only in a smaller version. 
Such a baby can only participate in show jumping without a rider.
The breeders managed to achieve their goal, and today American miniature horses are known throughout the world! Despite their small size, they are even harnessed to special carriages - they look very cute! 
Every true lady should have a little black dress and a mini carriage with a mini horse in order to appear impressively in society.
Horses are also used in hippotherapy. The animals have an exceptionally friendly character and are calm about stroking and hugging. 
Mini-horses are brought to rehabilitation centers, hospices and other institutions where people vitally need love and attention.
Americans are also used as guides. Horses are no worse than dogs at learning a person’s routes and commands, but they also don’t need a muzzle. However, you will have to take a larger bag. And a spatula at the same time. But these are such little things!
