A video has appeared on social networks showing an incident with a tourist who fell near Buckingham Palace. A woman fell flat on the pavement after being head-butted by a horse of the royal guard. However, many viewers expressed doubts about what happened.
We see a smiling woman with curly hair posing for photographs next to a black horse when it unexpectedly nudges her with its head. The woman suddenly falls face down, lies for a few moments, and then people run up to her and help her up.
Some social media users doubted that the woman was actually hit by a horse. Or rather, she hit her with such force that she could fly off like that. The fall has been compared to a football player's jump, suggesting the woman may have been faking the injury for an insurance payout.
“They didn’t hit me with their head, they just pushed me. They didn’t throw her to the ground, but tossed her up... As if someone is trying to start an insurance claim”, “I believe that she can give a head start to any Premier League footballer with such a professional foul!”, “Even Cristiano would be proud of this jump Ronaldo,” these are the comments viewers leave under the video.
The Royal Guard consists of elite soldiers responsible for protecting the monarch. They are prohibited from interacting with the public and may use force if they are approached too closely or become aggressive.
A sign near the guards warns spectators that the horses may kick or bite and asks not to touch the reins. This is not the first time tourists have been hurt by the horses of the royal guard. Earlier this year, a tourist was bitten by a horse while trying to pet it.
