Tourists who were heading to the beach stumbled upon a yacht stuck in the dunes.
A group of tourists stumble upon a luxury speed yacht that has crashed onto a beach and become stuck in the dunes on a Spanish island.
It is believed to be a Pershing 54, which could cost up to £300,000.
Viral footage shows a yacht stuck almost vertically on a sandbank on the island of Espalmador in Formentera, Spain.
According to PowerYacht magazine, it is believed that the ship must have been traveling at 35 knots (65 km/h) to crash on the sand dunes in this manner. And the captain did not have time to turn around, discovering that the navigator had led him straight to the island.
No damage to the yacht has yet been reported, and local Spanish media claim that none of the crew members on board the yacht were injured in the incident.
As a result, tourists who found themselves on the island took selfies in front of the yacht stuck in the sand and even climbed on board.
The Formentera Island Council has given the owner of the stranded yacht 48 hours to remove batteries and fuel from the yacht, which could pollute the island. He was also given a 72-hour deadline during which the owner must find a way to refloat the yacht.
The Pershing 54 yacht stranded on a Spanish beach is a popular model designed by Fulvio de Simoni and produced from 1995 to 2003. It is considered a coveted classic among yachtsmen.
