Volkswagen showed the new Golf GTI in two versions (8 photos)
The German automaker has introduced a new version of its powerful sports hatchback - the Volkswagen GTI Clubsport. The long-awaited new product boasts a large number of innovations and is the most powerful car in the series. The car is still in camouflage; it will be completely declassified on May 31 during the 24-hour race at the Nurburgring.
Two versions will be presented - the Golf GTI Clubsport 24h with a developed body kit, created specifically for participation in competitions, and the civilian version of the Golf GTI Clubsport.
The Golf GTI Clubsport has more differences from the regular Volkswagen Golf MK8.5 than it might seem at first glance. So, it has a new front end and even different headlights. At the rear there is a large spoiler on the roof, and the rear bumper is similar to that of the Golf R, but with single exhaust pipes. The Golf GTI Clubsport is equipped with 19-inch wheels, and for an extra charge Warmenau forged wheels weighing 7.65 kg each are available.
The Golf GTI Clubsport will receive an electronically controlled front differential lock and adaptive suspension (at extra cost). It is unknown what the power of the Golf GTI Clubsport engine is, but the car is clearly aimed at competing with the 315-horsepower Honda Civic Type R. But the Golf GTI Clubsport 24h engine develops 348 hp.
