Girls wrestle each other in the mud, booze flows, and the kings of Korean pop keep the fun going. Well, isn't it a fairy tale? This isn't just another themed party - it's a fantastic adventure!

Welcome to the Boryeong Mud Festival, an annual event that has grown from a small local celebration to a global phenomenon.

Moreover, the event is suitable for everyone: lovers of exciting adventures, supporters of a healthy lifestyle, dedicated cultural researchers and simply party lovers.

Origins of the Boryeong Mud Festival

The history of the festival is as unusual as the event itself. The holiday was first held in 1998, but why? The answer is quite interesting. The festival was launched as a marketing event to promote the mineral-rich mud found in the Boryeong area.

A Korean cosmetics company that produces mud-based products from Boryeong decided to make a clever move to attract more people's attention to its cosmetics. But who would have thought that years later this publicity stunt would grow into one of South Korea's most popular summer events?

What happens at the festival?

Lots of entertainment! Firstly, this is, of course, taking a mud bath. A huge pool filled with healthy mud is literally filled with people.

You can also ride down a mud slide and, of course, compete in the most slippery conditions, which definitely evokes children's emotions of joy!

Apart from these exciting entertainment, the festival also hosts fantastic concerts featuring famous K-pop artists and DJs, bringing even more excitement to the party.

Another plus is its growing popularity among travelers. Tourists from different countries come to the festival, and international parties are always an opportunity for meeting people and interesting communication.

And, of course, the above entertainment is not all! There are a lot of competitions, for example, the mud marathon. The winners receive prizes and incredible emotions.

Although the festival lasts about two weeks, it is most famous for its final days, which are especially popular among foreigners. The last days of the festival usually fall on the second weekend of July.
