Cashew nuts are a valuable source of protein and carbohydrates; they are rich in vitamins A, B2, B1 and microelements. More and more people are including them in their diet - especially those who are vegetarians.
Few people know how this nut grows. Its shell contains caustic substances - anacardic acid and cardol, which, when they come into contact with the skin, cause irritation and burns.
It is difficult to remove the nut from the shell; this has to be done manually by workers involved in cashew production.
