A Japanese man has been searching for his wife at sea for more than ten years, who disappeared during the tsunami (4 photos + 1 video)

In 2011, a devastating tsunami hit Japan (we showed what the country looks like ten years after Fukushima). The tragedy claimed almost 20 thousand lives, and 2,500 people are still missing. Among them was a woman named Yuko Takamatsu. Her husband Yasuo Takamatsu is still trying to find her. He went to diving school and has already made hundreds of dives in the hope of finding his wife.



The couple met in 1988, Yuko was then 25 years old. Yasuo remembered his beloved as a gentle woman who painted with watercolors and loved classical music.

When the tragedy happened, Yuko was at work, and her husband was far from her. Realizing that his wife was missing, Yasuo went in search of her. For two years he searched on the coast: examining beaches, forests and mountains. Alas, he only found her phone number with an unsent message. Yuko wrote to her husband: “Such a strong tsunami,” but the message never went through.





After this, Yasuo had only one place left to search - the ocean. To go to the bottom of the sea, the man went to study with a scuba diving instructor who helped retrieve debris after the tsunami.

Finding a body in the ocean is about as difficult as looking for a needle in a haystack. But even a magnet won’t help here. But Takamatsu does not give up; he has already completed hundreds of dives. The Japanese has drawn up a map and is keeping records of his searches. And although ten years have not brought results, Yasuo says that in the ocean he feels closer to his beloved.
