The legendary Hong Kong actor, director, screenwriter, producer and martial artist Jackie Chan turned 70 years old! Jackie has an interesting record, for which he was included in the Guinness Book of Records: the largest number of mentions of one person in the credits of one film. In the creation of the action film Armor of God 3: Mission Zodiac (2012), Jackie held 15 different positions!

In honor of Jackie's anniversary, we decided to embrace his versatility and look not only at those films by the king of action-comedies, where he captivates audiences with his performances, jokes, fights and performs complex (often traumatic) stunts, but also those that he directed as a director.

Lord Dragon (1981)

IMDb: 6.3

Two friends get involved in a criminal story, having annoyed the bandits (whom you won’t envy, because it’s not for nothing that Jackie’s hero bears the nickname Dragon Ho). This is the first Jackie Chan film to feature failed and funny takes at the end during the credits.

Crime Story (1993)

The main director was Kirk Vaughn. As the process progressed, his relationship with Jackie went wrong, and the latter, with the support of the producers, took on the functions of director.

IMDb: 6.7

The main character, Eddie Chan, is a policeman assigned to an important businessman who suspects that he is being kidnapped. When the man is actually kidnapped (Eddie missed it), the hero begins an investigation with his colleague Hoon. It’s just that this Hun is very suspicious. Surely he has something to do with this crime?

By the way, this film is based on a true story, which is much darker than what was shown on the screen. However, Crime Story is an action-drama and not a comedy like all the other films on this list.

Fearless Hyena (1979)

IMDb: 6.6

Jackie Chan's directorial debut. The hero Jackie takes revenge on criminals for the death of his child, having previously learned the art of martial arts. The film turned out to be extremely commercially successful, becoming the second highest grossing film in Hong Kong history at that time.

Who am I? (1998)

Main director: Benny Chan.

IMDb: 6.8

A CIA detachment sent to Africa for a special mission is liquidated in its entirety by the government - their plane is shot down. One of the soldiers survives, but loses his memory, remaining somewhere in the jungle. Now he must remember who he is and deal with who is responsible for the plane crash.

Miracles (1989)

IMDb: 6.9

The main character Charlie comes to Chicago for a better life. However, instead he gets into a shootout between two mafia clans, and it just so happens that he pulls the boss of one of them out from under fire. He is already mortally wounded, but manages to name Charlie his heir. So the hero becomes the godfather of half of the criminal Chicago. It’s unclear what to do with this.

Armor of God (1986)

IMDb: 6.9

Probably Jackie Chan's most famous franchise not filmed in Hollywood. The film has two successful sequels.

The main character, a treasure hunter, obtains a certain ritual sword in Africa. As it turns out, the weapon is one of the five elements of the armor of God, the destruction of which will begin the reign of the forces of Evil on Earth. Of course, the forces of Evil have their own criminal network, which really needs this sword.

Young Master (1980)

IMDb: 7.1

Jackie Chan's hero, nicknamed the Dragon, goes in search of his brother, nicknamed the Tiger, who has set foot on a dark path. Or rather, he moved from one kung fu school to another.

Project A (1983)

IMDb: 7.2

Duet of Jackie Chan and Sammo Hung, known for the TV series “Chinese Policeman”. The Hong Kong Marine Police of the early 20th century confronts completely savage pirates. You won't believe what nickname Jackie's character has. Of course - Dragon!

Drunken Master 2 (1994)

The main director was Lau Ka-leung. Another case in Chan's career when he disagreed with the director and finished his work for him. Jackie directed the final scene of the film - it took four months to shoot!

IMDb: 7.5

Jackie plays real-life turn-of-the-century martial artist Wong Fei-hong. He is trying to stop the British from taking a valuable relic out of China. By the way, the hero’s “drunk style” of fighting is called this way for a reason - in order to use it and be invincible, you need to drink.

Police Story (1985)

IMDb: 7.5

The main character, policeman Kevin, is entrusted with the protection of the secretary of a captured drug mafia boss, who should become an important witness in his case. Kevin lets her go, the drug lord is released, and then the hero is even accused of murdering a colleague. Now Kevin needs to make things right.
