How cute penguins get their partner's attention

Mating season at the Detroit Zoological Society is a special time that captures the attention of people around the world! And this time, footage of the zoo's penguins has gone viral as people admire the gentle gestures of these incredible creatures.

This year they brought out painted rocks for the penguins as part of their Toddlers and Teens program. But these stones were in the enclosures not for beauty, but as a gift to their soulmate. The penguins approached the stones and carefully chose the one they liked. Then they brought this treasure to their chosen “half”.

According to biologists, male penguins find the smoothest pebble to give to the female. If she likes the offering, she will place it in the nest, indicating that they will now build a nest together for future offspring.
