In the Rostov region, drones attacked the Novocherkassk power plant, two power units were disabled
On the night of March 25, the Novocherkassk State District Power Plant in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation was attacked by drones. A fire broke out and two power units were temporarily taken out of service.
According to the Governor of the Rostov Region Vasily Golubev, a fire broke out at the transformer substation of the Novocherkassk State District Power Plant at night.
“The plant workers managed to quickly extinguish the fire. There were no injuries. The causes of the fire are being established,” the statement says.
The governor noted that there was also an automatic shutdown of two high-voltage lines and a shutdown of two power units of the state district power plant. The station has 9 power units.
“Due to the fire, the 330 kV high-voltage lines - Tikhoretskaya and Rostovskaya - were automatically switched off. Currently, power supply to consumers has been resumed. Two power units of the state district power plant have been temporarily taken out of operation,” Golubev said.
Local residents, as reported by Telegram channels, spoke about the sounds of drones flying over the region; there were at least two dozen of them. It is also reported that in some places the lights went out for several minutes.
In turn, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the downing of 11 supposedly Ukrainian drones over the Rostov region.
“Eleven Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles were intercepted by regular air defense systems over the territory of the Rostov region,” the Ministry of Defense said in a brief statement.
