This strange house is located in Shandong province, China. It was built by a man named Hu Guangzhou.





Hu was born into a family of farmers. He was the eldest son in the family and always took care of his younger brothers. Hu doted on them.

There was always not enough money. Hu dropped out of school and began taking on any job to help his parents and support his two brothers, who were in school at the time.

And with their brothers they had a childhood dream. They decided that they would work hard, save money and one day build a big house. They will live in the house as a big friendly family, together with parents, wives and children.



However, at a young age, Hu contracted meningitis, after which he developed mental illness.





His elderly parents tried to find him a wife so that at least someone would take care of him after they were gone. But all the local women knew perfectly well about his illness and no one married him.

Hu began to realize his dream. He began to build that big house that would accommodate his entire family.



Construction is in full swing

The brothers left home and moved to the city in search of work. Alas, they did not find a better life there and it all ended tragically. One died in a car accident, the other fell ill and died at a young age.

Hu was told that his brothers had passed away, but he did not believe it. Hu persisted in building the house and decided to keep his promise.

The parents also passed away. Hu was left completely alone. And for another three years he completed building this grandiose house, believing that one day his younger brothers would return. And they will all live together, as they dreamed of.

For construction, he used sand, broken bricks, clay mortar, bamboo, branches and stones. I collected various construction waste throughout the area. Hu built the house stubbornly, layer by layer, working day and night.

It took Hu 10 years to build this structure. Moreover, the first five years were spent on the foundation, three years - on the construction of floors. And the remaining two are for arrangement and strengthening of the structure.

The result was a seven-story building.



The authorities were considering demolishing the squatter building due to the risk that it would collapse and cause damage to surrounding buildings. And in general, he will kill someone.

But the house turned out to be quite strong. As one of the local engineers joked, in order to demolish it, so many explosives would be needed that the entire village would fly into the sky along with the house.

When photos of the house spread across the Internet, it instantly became popular. What the locals were complaining about, calling Hu crazy, suddenly became a popular cultural object.

Hu is now 63 years old, and in his free time from other work, he is busy continuing to strengthen and furnish the house.
