The leopard climbed onto a rock to rest, and then went on about its business. A fox took his place. She began to rub herself against the rock where the leopard had previously rested, trying to infuse herself with the scent of the big cat.
Sometimes animals do this to enhance their own scent at the expense of someone else’s or simply to “out-mark” another predator.
