The Range Rover in which Elizabeth II and Barack Obama sat is put up for sale (24 photos)
The British company Bramley Motor Cars has put up for sale a 2016 Range Rover, which it estimates to be approximately twice the price of a new one. The fact is that this is a car from the royal garage - it was used for trips by Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip. The car was rid of all the options installed for Her Majesty, but retained the original numbers.
The long-wheelbase SUV with low mileage is priced at £225,000, which is approximately double the base price of a new Range Rover.
In addition to the ruling family of Great Britain, the family of the US President once drove this SUV. In the spring of 2016, when the car was still practically new, it was used to greet Barack Obama and his wife Michelle during an official visit to Foggy Albion. Prince Philip personally transported them from the port to Windsor Castle. Sellers note that this is one of the very few times Obama rode in something other than his presidential limousine, nicknamed "The Beast."
At the same time, the Queen herself was not noticed driving an SUV, although Elizabeth II was known for her interest in cars.
In preparation for the royal garage, the Range Rover was equipped with a siren and a hidden chandelier, as well as thresholds and additional grab handles for the rear bench. When the car was taken out of government service, all of this equipment was removed, with the exception of the grab handles. At the same time, the SUV retained the license plates with which it was used to transport Elizabeth II. According to the seller, this is an extremely rare situation, because usually in such cases cars are re-registered with a change of numbers in order to exclude a reminder of their service in the royal family.
The SUV is equipped with a 4.4-liter diesel V8 and has driven just over 29 thousand kilometers since 2016.
In October 2023, another Range Rover of Her Majesty was put up for sale. The 2004 car was valued at only 60 thousand pounds, despite the fact that it is reliably known that Elizabeth II personally drove this particular example.
