In 2020, users of the Internet Movie Data Base website created a rating of the most beautiful actresses in Golden Hollywood. Fifth place went to Elizabeth Taylor, a loving brunette who did not tolerate oppression. However, where they take and give, even if she was unlucky on a personal level, the actress built a legendary career.

Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor. (27.02.1932 - 23.03.2012).

Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor was born on February 27, 1932 in the family mansion; the girl's parents were English by blood. Father - Francis Taylor, an art dealer, mother - Sarah Taylor, a theatergoer, the couple decided even before the birth of their children that their offspring would realize their personal ambitions. Besides her, the family already had a son, Howard, a very capable boy, and as the first-born, he was, in fact, the first to suffer. The child was vigorously pushed onto the screen; at first he took it calmly. However, the boy did not like the work, so he began to actively resist. As a result, the parents gave up, and after graduation, the son headed the family art gallery. A completely different story awaited my daughter. The violet look and rare genetic mutation (distichiasis) immediately attracted the attention of others. Having barely reached the age of eight, the girl was presented with a fact - you would star in films. The path there was carefully trodden by a tenacious parent.

1942: The child made his debut in an episode of the comedy film Man or Mouse. 1943: Participated in a rather uncomfortable filming with a constantly shedding dog, the film Lassie Comes Home. 1944: The girl gained recognition by starring in the highest-grossing children's film of the year, National Velvet. After this, directors of various film studios began to fight for the girl, who did not have a permanent contract. The fight was won by Metro Goldwyn Mayer. Immediately after signing the contract, sheer idiocy began. The studio director suddenly put forward conditions for changing her image - dye her hair blonde, change the shape of her eyebrows and from now on be called Virginia. Of course, the parents refused these outrageous needs. Blackmail into agreeing to any conditions, please, but only with poor actors. The girl’s family was wealthy, so the studio both opened its mouth and closed it.

When the actress was fifteen years old, her career came to a standstill. Filmmakers didn’t know what to do with her and where to shove the current Velvet Brown. The studio suggested speeding up several interviews, supplementing them with photographs and documentary footage of the actress in which she is preparing for a date. Walking around arm in arm with a fake gentleman was a nasty business, but the move worked. The pause immediately stopped; there was no end to the roles. The situation repeated itself three years later, but agents quickly found a suitable film for the girl. Elizabeth's transition through various film milestones went more smoothly than originally planned. However, the actress herself felt a taste of fame. A decade in the industry is, of course, a decent amount of time, but not long enough to consider yourself better than others. A quarrel with screenwriter Enney Mackenzie over a too short role did not do the actress any credit.

Elizabeth Taylor's biggest fault is that she never wanted to follow the example of willing and financially unstable actresses. If she didn’t like the situation, she would immediately tell everyone about it. Her straightforwardness damaged her reputation, and some directors found her difficult to work with. In addition, having barely reached adulthood, the actress got married and continued to do this for another forty years. The girl turned out to be a very loving person. Everything would be fine if her personal failures did not affect the quality of her work. She could easily ruin everything, being in a quarrel with her next husband. It got to the point that numerous marriages began to interest the world in more films with her participation. Because of this, in the seventies, the actress’s career began to decline sharply. Film studios continued to highlight her name on their posters, but received no response from the audience.

It is believed that a list can be made from the names of the actress’s husbands and children, and this is true. The first husband Conrad Hilton is the same rich mana young son who does not want to take responsibility, the marriage barely lasted a year, the reason for the divorce was the beating of his wife, which ended in a miscarriage. The second husband, Michael Wilding, was taken away from the family, the marriage lasted five years, it resulted in sons Michael and Christopher, but soon the girl cheated on the annoying man. The third husband, Michael Todd, a producer, was that same lover, they got married three days after the divorce, the couple had a daughter, Elizabeth, but the man soon died in a plane crash. The fourth husband, Edward Fisher, is a musician; the troubled marriage was accompanied by mutual infidelities and lasted who knows what for six whole years. The fifth husband, actor Richard Burton, was taken away from the family, the marriage as a whole lasted eleven years, the couple had a daughter, Maria, they divorced three times and got back together, but all in vain. The sixth husband, John Warner, is a senator, he was the only husband who did not fulfill his wife’s whims at the first request, this contributed to the brunette’s alcohol addiction, six years later she filed for divorce. The seventh husband of Larry Fortensky is a handyman, gigolo was twenty years younger than his chosen one, when he realized that it was impossible to wrest jewelry from his wife, he immediately left, the marriage lasted five years. The actress really had something to steal from; she collected jewelry like candy wrappers. Fortunately, her finances allowed her to do this.

It is worth noting separately that the actress’s health was very fragile from early childhood. So much so that doctors sometimes wondered how it even existed. For eighty years she had been sick with something without a break. Broke most of my bones under different circumstances. With such a medical record, the birth of four children was generally considered a miracle. However, despite all her problems, the actress did not refuse filming. Freed from a destructive fifth marriage, she tried to mend her relationship with the film crew and worked to her own detriment to try to improve the situation. The elated state, as a rule, did not last long, the actress got married again and the attacks of scandal resumed. It’s interesting that in the sixties they let her off the hook. After the success of the film adaptation of Tennessee Williams' play, an order came from above: to endure the whims of the superstar.

Despite her quarrelsomeness, Elizabeth Taylor was not primarily a conflicted person. And this is really strange, because as soon as she fell in love with a married man, she rushed at him like a lioness. The big lyrical digression has been delayed, and therefore we need to roll back to the mid-fifties. Then the actress realized the mistake and no longer made rash statements to the press. And her decision was magically influenced by her expiring contract. The dubiously friendly brunette has once again established connections with the directors of the film studio. She had a whole list of complaints that was reduced to nothing. She extended her contract for another seven years. Films starring the actress were invariably successful at the box office; in one year alone, she earned $52 million. Financial stability helped her buy a private home in California.

The sixties for the actress were sharp, like exchange rates. First, the box office success of big projects, then the problems in the fifth marriage spread to the set, as a result, the director of the film studio forbade the spouses to act together. Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor were an iconic duo, and while this step made the filmmakers' work easier, the audience, on the contrary, was outraged. Films featuring a married couple performed well at the box office, but the situation on the set was unbearable. A biographer studying a failed marriage called the joint strips an "illustrated gossip column." Every step of celebrities was recorded by newspapermen, press editions were sold out instantly, ordinary people were interested in what was happening to the couple off the screen. As terrible as it may seem, it was the obsessive crowd of fans that later turned against the couple. By that time, the fidelity of the fifth husband was called into question, the actress had significantly gained weight due to stress, and society began to criticize both of them for being too public. However, as soon as they left the radar, a journalistic hunt was announced for the spouses. This vicious circle undermined the mental health of the actress; her brother believed that she subsequently tried to find lost love from her new husband and therefore constantly agreed to new marriages.

After a commercial failure in the seventies, the actressI wanted to consider my more successful colleagues as my rivals. Kim Novak, Jane Fonda, and Mia Farrow were targeted. Long-term dissatisfaction with her career forced the actress not to challenge herself. Now she took on any acceptable scenario. The woman’s work became more diverse, and she successfully performed on the theater stage. Soon she joined the soap series about doctors. She voiced her own character in the animated series about the yellow family named Simpson. Critics called the choice of new roles questionable. But the truth is that no one has proposed more interesting projects. Perhaps in the adaptation of the animated series about cavemen, produced by Hanna-Barbera.

In the 2000s, the actress’s health deteriorated sharply. She took part in the comedy special American Nags. The task of the scriptwriters was to specifically gather the main actresses of Golden Hollywood and prove that they were still anywhere. Immediately after filming was completed, the actress contracted an infection, the complications were so serious that she fell ill. She required a tracheotomy. Six years later she returned to the theater stage. However, soon the actress received another fracture and lost the ability to move independently. Another hospitalization took place shortly before her death. After five years of endless struggle with the body, everything ended tragically.
