The Turkish Air Force C-160 Transall military transport aircraft came within a hair's breadth of a major disaster during a training flight. Due to a technical malfunction, almost immediately after takeoff from the air transport base in the city of Kayseri, the plane was forced to turn around and make an emergency landing. The pilots flew the plane at an extremely low altitude over city blocks and amazed eyewitnesses.
The plane was able to land at the departure airfield. True, on the “belly” and not on the runway, but on the ground. In the video demonstrating the landing, it is clear that the plane turned sharply upon landing.
According to the Turkish Ministry of Defense, the crew of the aircraft was not injured. The reasons for the technical failure are not stated. The military department did not say anything specific about the nature of the damage received by the plane. There is an opinion that it will not fly again.
