There is a state of emergency in Ulaanbaatar. A gas carrier exploded in the area of the large Dunjingarav market. According to the unofficial assumption, the explosion was preceded by an accident with another car.
After the explosion, the truck was thrown 30-40 meters from the scene of the emergency, and the flames quickly spread to a nearby residential building. Nearby cars and market pavilions also caught fire.
According to the Mongolian news portal News.mn, the number of victims is still being determined. It is known that three Emergency Situations Ministry employees and three city residents died while extinguishing the fire. 15 residents of the house, which caught fire after the explosion, were injured. Of these, five are in intensive care with burns to 80-90% of the body. Their condition is extremely serious.
The market area where the fire occurred has been cordoned off. The open fire was extinguished several hours later, and rescuers are now searching for the missing people. Most likely, the number of dead and injured will increase in the coming hours.
It is also known that at least 30 cars were burned in the fire, but these figures are also not yet final.
More than 600 emergency personnel and 48 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire. About 40 residents of the house, which caught fire after the explosion, were temporarily evacuated and placed in a hotel.
