Ashley Singh, 39, and Sophie Brouillat, 20, were jailed after they were found to have defrauded gym-goers out of £250,000. The attackers stole credit cards from lockers and paid for luxury holidays in Dubai and the Amalfi Coast of Italy.
The couple also splurged on boutiques including Prada and got a purebred puppy. The lovers did not hesitate to share footage of their beautiful life on social networks.
Over the course of a year, criminals robbed 18 victims at gyms across London.
A Croydon magistrate said victims no longer felt safe around strangers. There were 18 reports of fraud in total, including 14 to the Metropolitan Police, one from Sussex, one from Hertfordshire and two from Cambridgeshire.
Singh and Bruya, from Bromley, London, were found guilty of conspiracy to defraud. The man was sentenced to three years in prison, and Bruya was sentenced to 20 months in a young offenders' institution, suspended for two years. The girl was also ordered to undergo a rehabilitation program and assigned 120 hours of correctional labor.
Detective Constable Luis Martins Da Silva said: "We know that theft is a concern for Londoners. These crimes cause a lot of stress, pain and financial loss. That's why we took this case very seriously and a whole team of our officers took on the task of catching Singh and Brouilly."
"We hope their arrest will bring some closure to the victims. We will now look to compensate the victims."
