Fidelity to vows and divine silence of one Indian woman (6 photos + 1 video)
Women are talkative creatures. It is a fact. But there are rare and even surprising exceptions to this rule.
85-year-old Indian woman Saraswati Devi from Dhanbad in Jharkhand state is observing the vow of silence she took to herself on the day of the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya in 1992. It is believed that the mosque was the birthplace of the deity Rama. For a long time, the temple complex was the subject of disputes between the Hindu and Muslim communities of India. And as a result it was destroyed.

Devi promised that she would maintain mouna - sacred silence in dharmic religions and yoga, until a new temple dedicated to Rama was built in the city.

A few years earlier, the woman was widowed. And after the death of her husband, she began to seek solace in religion. On the advice of her confessor, she visited many sacred places and promised to speak only one hour a day.
Devi reads religious books, devotes a lot of time to meditation and adheres to a vegetarian diet consisting of rice, legumes and roti (Indian bread). He eats only once a day and drinks a glass of milk in the morning and evening.
The Indian woman communicates with her family in sign language. And when he needs to communicate something long, he writes a note. Until 2020, Devi spoke for an hour a day, and when the foundation of the temple was laid on the orders of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she fell completely silent.
Neighbors speak of Saraswati as a saint:
She is a saint and her aura reflects her spirituality. She is generous and kind-hearted and blesses everyone in the area. Despite her advanced age, she is in good shape and healthy.
