A passenger showed how a neighbor shamelessly violated her personal space (6 photos + 1 video)
Is your chair being kicked? Have you almost been crushed by a suddenly reclined chair? Did a foul smell hit your nose? Do you see someone cutting their toenails? Not everyone is familiar with etiquette at the airport and on board an airplane. Savannah Sterling shared a video of a neighbor violating her personal space during a flight.
Savannah Sterling filmed her neighbor on board the plane taking photos of the view from the window.
The video has received more than 4.7 million views. Savannah wrote: "Don't people know what personal space is? And that you can choose a seat by the window?"
The footage shows Savannah in discomfort as the elderly man ignores her presence and pulls his phone towards the porthole.
Being a non-conflict person, Sterling admitted that “the only way out for her was to look out the window.”
Comments immediately poured in:
"I refuse to believe that this is not your father. WHO ACTS LIKE THIS?"
“It is very important to be able to stand up for ourselves when someone makes us feel uncomfortable.”
“I don’t understand how you can remain silent in a situation like this.”
“We had to offer him: “I can take pictures for you, and you won’t violate my personal space.”
Business Insider writer and traveler Monica Humphries weighed in: "First of all, I would never violate someone else's space to look out the window. I would politely ask the passenger if I could take a photo. Before a flight, I always say hello to the person sitting "is next to me, so I wouldn't be embarrassed to ask if I could take a photo. If I were in the place of the author of the video, I would remind my neighbor that he is violating my personal space and ask him to wait until I go to the toilet."
