According to the latest data, 116 people were killed and 186 injured as a result of the earthquake in the provinces of Gansu and Qinghai in China. 
On December 18 at 23:59 (18:59 Moscow time) an earthquake occurred in Jishishan-Bao'an-Dongxiang-Salar Autonomous County of Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture in the northwestern Chinese province of Gansu. Tremors with an amplitude of 6.2 were recorded.

The epicenter of the earthquake was located 110 km west of the village of Tumshuk (Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region). About 135 thousand people live in that place. The source of the earthquake lay at a depth of more than 10 km.
Chinese television reported casualties and injuries, the number of which may change as the rubble is cleared.
In the area of the epicenter, houses and infrastructure were damaged, and communications were destroyed.
Emergency services and local emergency management personnel were sent to the affected cities. Currently, over 1.5 thousand rescuers are working in the disaster zone. Xi Jinping called for "every effort to search for, rescue and eliminate the consequences of the earthquake."
To provide assistance, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Emergency Management of the People's Republic of China allocated 200 million yuan (about $28 million) to the provinces of Gansu and Qinghai.
