One of the most colorful and memorable characters from the Outer World of the Mortal Kombat universe is the four-armed Shokan Prince Goro.

The prince of the underground kingdom of Kuatan (which is located in the Outer World), Goro, became the first representative of the Shokan race to appear in the Mortal Kombat universe. His debut comes in the very first part of the franchise, where he acts as a sub-boss.

Goro's exact age is unknown, the only thing we know is that he is over two thousand years old. The four-armed monster was invited to the Mortal Kombat tournament by the sorcerer Shang Tsung; the exact details of their acquaintance are also shrouded in the fog of the unknown. At his first tournament, Goro manages to defeat the Great Kung Lao and win nine victories in a row, thereby putting Earthrealm on the brink of defeat and future annexation.

However, at the decisive tenth tournament, Goro was challenged by a young Shaolin warrior - Liu Kang. The defender of the Earth managed to defeat the Shokan, and later defeat Shang Tsung, thereby saving people from the invasion from the Outer World. It is unknown what happened to Goro after the tournament; he probably ended up in the Outer World, but did not return to his kingdom, but went into exile, believing that his honor was tarnished by defeat in the tournament at the hands of a man.

1. Originally, Goro's name was supposed to sound like Gongoro. And its plot belonged to the unused character Rokuro. Besides everything, in the first MK and Trilogy, Goro’s name is not spoken after defeating an opponent.

2. The official Midway comic says that Goro has eight wives. For a long time there were rumors that Shiva was one of them.

3. According to one of the creators of the game, Ed Boon, two Goro dolls were created for the first part of the game. One of which has become unusable due to intensive use, the second is kept at his home.

4. Prince Goro has three fingers, although according to the original plan there were four. But due to the fact that it was easier for the creator of the doll to make a monster with three phalanges, the character lost an extra finger.

5. In Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, Goro was killed by Johnny Cage, which is a clear reference to the first film in the universe.

6. Goro was included in GameSpot's list of the 10 best boss battles due to the fact that, according to the creators of the award, it was very difficult to defeat Goro in the first game of the game. While already in Shaolin Monks, according to Alex Navarro from the same GameSpot, he called Goro the easiest fighter in the series.

7. Surprisingly, in 1993 Goro received the “Sexiest Character” prize of the first MK according to the Electronic Gaming Monthly magazine.

8. Kuatan's hand-to-hand fighting style, which was used by Goro in Deception, was given to Shiva in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. No wonder there were rumors about their marriage after all.

9. The Goro doll from the movie "Mortal Kombat" was, according to Business Week magazine, the most complex animatronic doll ever created in Hollywood. Note from 1994.

10. In MKH, Goro does not appear in the story mode and does not seem to be related to the game's plot at all.
