In the jungles of Indonesia there is a giant chicken that is also... a church! That is, simply building a building in the shape of a huge chicken was no longer enough.





Gereja Ayam, as the Chicken Church is called, was built by Danel Alamsha, who is now in his seventies. And he began building “his life’s work” when he was forty years old.

He was a simple worker in Jakarta when God spoke to him (not a chicken, the man claims to be a Christian).

Danel was just visiting his wife’s relatives in the province when he suddenly realized that he had seen the same landscape in his dreams. So he realized that this was a revelation - here he had to start construction.

He heard that he should build a house of prayer for all people who believe in God. And Christian pilgrims called it a church.

For the first four years, he worked and saved to buy the church site for $170. He was never rich and had no education related to construction.

All his actions were prompted by God. So, one must think that the shape in the shape of a chicken was also whispered by God. Although Danel claims that it is a dove in a crown. Well, a dove in a crown is a completely different, adequate thing!

The Chicken Church does not belong to any existing religion. Buddhists, Muslims, and Christians can come here to pray.

He also allowed the premises inside to be used as a rehabilitation home for disabled children and drug addicts, but then the project was closed due to lack of funding.

There is also a special class of guests - weddings. Many people want to be original and get married in the Chicken Church. Moreover, there is no need to give rent to anyone.



In the early 2000s, Chicken Church experienced its worst years of vandalism. And now she's having a Renaissance

This is the reason for all the troubles; the builder has always been not of this world. That’s why he doesn’t even take money to maintain the condition of the building. That's why some of its walls are covered with graffiti, and five of the eight columns are already shaking.

Now they have begun to raise funds and restore it with public funds. This is great, it will be a shame if the Chicken Church collapses sooner or later. Still, it was built with slightly crazy, but very pure intentions.
