Visitors to a shopping center in South Africa were enjoying a mermaid show when her tail got caught on a reef at the bottom of an aquarium. 
The incident took place in Randburg. The girl playing the role of a mermaid in the aquarium of the shopping center wanted to rise to the surface and take a breath, but got caught in her costume. The actress had to take off her ponytail. 
“In front of alarmed shoppers, a terrifying moment occurred when the tail of a professional mermaid got caught on a reef at the bottom of an aquarium in a shopping center. Experiencing a lack of air, the girl quickly took off her costume and was able to float to the surface,” the video description reads.
“I’m glad she was saved. But now the children will know that she has legs,” one user commented.
A second wrote: "Mermaids don't exist. We need to tell kids the truth. How can you hire 'mermaids' without full-face masks? We need to come up with new versions of mermaids with full-face diving masks so that the idea is ingrained in children's minds that they wear them too. Kids "They'll start thinking that swimming in the depths with a mermaid's tail is normal, that they will survive and live happily ever after. We need to stop this fantasy thinking of children and be more realistic for their own safety."
