Germany has closed its consulates general in three Russian cities

The work of the consulates in Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg and Novosibirsk has ceased. Representative offices in St. Petersburg and Moscow continue to operate.

Four of Germany's five consulates in Russia were closed in May as Berlin sought to reduce the number of its civil servants in the country to 350 at Russia's request. After Russia's invasion of Ukraine last year, Germany joined other European countries in expelling dozens of Russian diplomats.
