They are looking for a fearless pilot with money and sponsors for the world speed record (8 photos)

The Bloodhound project aims to reach a speed of more than 1288 km/h and set an absolute record for land vehicles on wheels. However, the team has been moving towards its goal for a decade and a half and is now faced with another hole in the budget. A new pilot will only get behind the wheel of a rocket car if he brings sponsors with millions of dollars.

The project team openly announced that it needs additional funding in the amount of more than $14 million and is counting on a new member of the team to help find it. In this case, the pilot himself is guaranteed world fame for years to come - of course, if he manages to set a record. In addition, Bloodhound LSR hopes that relaunching the project with a new central character will fuel public interest in it, and this may bring in unplanned investors.

Now the main tester of the rocket car is racer Andy Green, who, for example, holds the current record of 1228 km/h. The athlete achieved this mark back in 1997. However, for the sake of the new driver, Green is ready to step aside, reserving only his coaching functions. In addition, a candidate willing to drive must have relevant experience driving vehicles at comparable speeds, for example, be able to pilot a fighter jet. To promote the promotion, a full-size replica of the Bloodhound LSR has already been built and will be transported throughout the UK.

The rocket car is powered by two jet engines from Rolls-Royce and Nammo, which develop the equivalent of 135,000 horsepower. With. At the same time, the project team, within the framework of modern trends in environmental friendliness, plans to use synthetic fuel when trying to set a record. However, when exactly it will take place, they do not yet know, apparently even in the management of Bloodhound. The last time the projectile, then called SSR, went to the salt marshes was in 2019. In tests, it was possible to accelerate it first over 800 km/h, and then up to 1000 km/h.
