A one-and-a-half-year-old girl fell under the wheels of a truck in Transcarpathia

On the afternoon of November 9, the police received a report of an accident in the village of Yasinya, Rakhiv district.
It was determined that the incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. On a local road, a 57-year-old Ural truck driver, a resident of the village of Chernaya Tisa, hit a small child.
Law enforcement officers interviewed eyewitnesses, watched video from surveillance cameras and found out that a 32-year-old local resident was walking along this street with her one and a half year old child. When the woman became distracted and stopped watching the child, the girl walked onto the roadway, where she fell under the wheels of a truck.
The child from the scene was hospitalized in the intensive care unit of a local hospital. However, she died from her injuries.
They kept an eye on the driver; the man was driving sober.
Based on the fact of violation of road safety rules, which resulted in the death of the victim, investigators entered information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Part 2 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The driver was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine and was placed in a temporary detention center.
The police also informed the mother of the deceased child: 1.7 ppm of alcohol was recorded in her blood. It was established that the woman was intoxicated. The police qualified her actions as malicious failure of parents to fulfill child care responsibilities, which led to grave consequences. The relevant information is included in the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Art. 166 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. According to the sanction of the article, the maximum punishment threatening a woman is up to 5 years in prison.
Investigators have already appointed a number of expert studies, based on the conclusion of which law enforcement officers will establish all the circumstances of the accident. The investigation is ongoing.
