American travel enthusiasts staying in the Okavango Delta, Botswana, attracted the attention of the owner of a wetland reservoir. 
The driver, seeing the impending danger in the form of an angry hippopotamus, started the car's engine, which aggravated the situation. 
The hippopotamus rushed at the vehicle making threatening sounds and bit through the side door, thereby leaving tourists with a long-lasting memory of their encounter.
According to an elderly traveler who managed to photograph the moment of the attack, as a result of the impact, the door, fender, windshield frame and side mirror became completely unusable.
