The happiness of the largest woman in the world (6 photos)
When involuntary external assessment of surrounding couples for compliance, the main criterion is harmony. Subconsciously, you want a man and a woman to suit each other. But this is far from the main criterion for happiness.
In 1898, a girl, Nellie Blanche Lane, was born into an ordinary West Virginia family. She has always been large beyond her age. And at the age of five she already looked 10. Which, naturally, provoked ridicule from her peers.

After graduating from school, the girl was unable to continue her studies or go to work: with a height of about two meters, her weight was approaching 300 kg. Then she made the only right decision - she joined the circus of freaks under the leadership of John Robinson and began a career, albeit a specific one, as an artist. Choosing the obvious, but very appropriate stage name - Merry Nellie.
The owner treated his charges like a father, paid them well, and did not infringe on their rights and desires. Therefore, Nelly managed to appear on the big screen: in the 1923 film “Circus Days” she played herself - a big woman.

The film's partner was Clarence Chesterfield Howerton (1913-1975), another unusual artist who claimed the title of the smallest man. Clarence's height was only 70 centimeters, which did not stop him from devoting 25 years to the circus and getting rich.
And three years later, during a tour in Hawaii, the fat woman met her love in the person of stuntman Carl Leon Terrell. The girl so touchingly looked after the motorcyclist who had injured his leg that he was not embarrassed by the significant difference in weight and height.

The couple performed together until the 30s. Then their paths diverged, and Nellie, together with her sister Alice, who was slightly smaller than the eldest in size, performed in various circus groups and even starred in a supporting role in the film “Nightmare Alley” in 1947.
The woman who claimed to be the largest in the world (at least in the period 20-30) died of cancer in the fall of 1955 at the age of 57 years. After cremation, the ashes were sent to California to Nellie's brother, who buried the remains of the unusual artist in the columbarium of Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
