A 1979 VW Beetle without any mileage caused a stir at the auction (16 photos)
A recently deceased Englishman left his heirs a car that few people knew about. Inside the permanent garage, in a sheathed state, there was a long-out-of-production Volkswagen 1303 LS Beetle Karmann convertible in new condition, with all factory parts and components, including tires.
The reason for the amazing preservation of the car can be explained simply: this brown-bronze Beetle, purchased new in 1979, drove into the garage and has never left it since then. Therefore, its mileage was literally a couple of miles, and the service book remained pristinely clean.
Not surprisingly, bidding for the discovered specimen was extremely brisk, reaching the final price of £49,500, which is 2-3 times higher than the cost of similar models currently available on the secondary market.
The local price record is explained not only by the perfect state of preservation of the 44-year-old car, but also by the fact that this is one of the last copies of the Karmann Beetle in right-hand drive.
