Two classic MG cars turned into electric cars with manual transmission (16 photos)
British tuning studio Frontline has presented an electric mod based on the British classic car MGB and promises to provide a driving experience as similar as possible to a car with an internal combustion engine.
Frontline has installed Mazda's five-speed transmission, which the company claims provides a similar driving experience to ICE cars. The company said the gearbox works as we'd expect, but in addition allows you to start and stop in any gear.
The MG BEE restomod was equipped with a Hyper9 electric motor with a capacity of about 134 horsepower. While that figure isn't all that impressive compared to the Tesla Model S Plaid, there's a power-to-weight ratio to consider - namely 102 horsepower per ton. With a 40 kWh traction battery, the car weighs just under 1,200 kg and can be charged from 0 to 100% in five hours using a 7 kW charger.
The restomod will be produced for individual orders in two body configurations - in the form of a BEE roadster and a BEE GT coupe.
Frontline will officially launch BEE and BEE GT at the Bicester Heritage Sunday Scramble in Britain on 8 October 2023.
