World's first: cat cruises launched in Singapore
Now the owners, along with their pets, can go on a luxurious sunset trip aboard the schooner. On the ship, the Fluffies can luxuriate in purpose-built, comfortable cages while their owners enjoy dinner next to them on deck.
For two and a half hours, the ship, which can accommodate up to 15 feline tourists, sails along the resort island of Sentosa, enjoying views of Singapore and fireworks. On the same ship, the company conducts cruises with dogs, but the animals do not intersect with each other.
The dogs are served a three-course meal on board, but the cat lovers take the food home – picky cats often tend to refuse food if it is out of their comfort zone.
Tall Ship Adventures, which organizes the cruises, says it has consulted experts and cat protection organizations to ensure safety on board. Precautions include ensuring that cats are securely held on a leash. In addition, animals must be vaccinated and sterilized before travel.
