44-year-old Jian Yang owns one of the largest collections Barbie in the world. A resident of Singapore takes dolls with pleasure events, where he photographs them for his page on the social network. Jan conducted a tour of his house, where precious specimens are kept.
"I still collect toys. It just so happened that I have a lot of Barbies, - the man admits. - To be honest, I stopped counting. The only reason I even know them number, is that my friend, the event organizer, wanted set a Guinness record.
A resident of Singapore became interested in Barbie as a child
"I love taking my dolls to events. I choose for them outfit depending on where I'm going to go. For example, if I I go to a Japanese restaurant, I take a Japanese Barbie."
Jan's house no longer contains the entire collection, there are only the most rare specimens. The rest are kept by his parents, in storerooms and in office.
"I don't consider it an addiction. In my opinion, addiction is it's something that's hard to give up,” Jian explains. - If I tomorrow If I think I've lost interest, I won't buy Barbies again."
Yang added that he took a break from collecting, when I lived in the Middle East for several years. At that time it is more he was interested in branded clothing, and he spent money on it.
"I don't think I ever started collecting. I just kept playing with toys."
The Barbie craze began in 1984 when Jan saw his sister's doll.
"Every boy has his own" Transformers "," Lords Universe", "Star Wars" and many other toys. And in my box with Barbie was also a toy. It belonged to my sister, of course, but I played to her. That Barbie rode my rockets, flew my planes and she went to the beach with me," says the collector.
"Barbie has always stayed with me because I also started dress up and buy nice clothes - DKNY, Calvin Klein. After Barbie from DKNY and Calvin Klein appeared. Then I started watching old movies: "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "The Seven Year Itch" and the like. And I bought Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn dolls.
It's not about the doll, but about the experience that it opens
"I like to post my dolls on the social network. I I love taking them to events. I like that girls come up and talk to me, because I have some kind of stupid doll. For me, this is experience. It's not about Barbie, it's about the experience it opens up. Thanks to her, I had many interesting conversations"
Jan talked about a recent trip to India where he took everyone of my Indian-style dolls: "I photographed them on the streets. I photographed them in the mountains, in hotels, and strangers came up to me and were talking to me. I think that such an experience of knowing India cannot be bought. No one has that experience."
The release of the Barbie movie drew attention to Ian and his collection
Of course, many condemn a man for his passion and doubt his orientation. And Jian does not understand how to do conclusions about a person with whom he personally does not know. And yes, he loves women.
According to Jan, in addition to numerous requests for interviews, he receives a lot of messages from strangers who try to sell him old dolls. And for him, Barbie is only part of his rich collections of toys.
"Honestly, if you look into this room, you'll see a lot of Lego. There are 500 transformers in my office. I have toys from animated series "Friendship is a miracle. I have Polly Pocket. I have Rainbow High dolls.
