A group of researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology came up with a device that detects breast cancer
It attaches directly to the bra
Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have created an ultrasound device that helps detect breast cancer. Women can use it on their own at any time between scheduled mammograms.
“The device is a flexible patch that can be attached to a bra, allowing the wearer to move the ultrasound probe along the patch and take images of breast tissue from different angles,” the scientists write.
The main author of the invention, Kanan Dagdeviren, came up with it after her aunt died. At the age of 49, the woman was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer, although she regularly underwent examinations.
Dagdeviren drew a rough diagram of the device right in the hospital room of a close relative before she died.
