A terrible accident at a pedestrian crossing

On June 30, at an unregulated pedestrian crossing in Kolpino, a Mazda3 driver hit two people, crashed into a parked Ford Focus and fled. A 22-year-old pedestrian died immediately, a 19-year-old survivor was taken to hospital in serious condition.
As told in the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, employees of the State traffic inspectorate found and detained the fugitive pilot 40 minutes after the accident near the scene. A 36-year-old man showed signs of alcohol intoxication.
